About the Property:
Monasterace is a small town perched on a hilltop overlooking a marina. A typical Calabrian town, it is dotted with churches, narrow streets and plenty of character. The town is divided into two distinct parts – the mountains and the seaside, the latter being ideal for sun seekers, water sport fans or for scuba divers keen on underwater archaeology! The region’s perfect climate is the main reason people flock to this coast; even in winter the temperatures are mild.
Two bedroom apartments are comfortable with an open plan kitchen and living/dining area and two bedrooms sharing a family bathroom. There’s also terracing on both sides, allowing you to make the most of the fabulous climate.
Monasterace treasures its food and Calabria is the garden of Italy, so the emphasis is on fresh locally caught fish and seafood, fresh locally grown fruit and vegetables (dishes featuring mushrooms, peas, beans and pasta are popular) but you will find spicy salami, hot peppers, sweet sun dried tomatoes, almonds, oranges and delicious fresh bread on menus everywhere. Religious holidays are a way of life in Calabria with regular street parties, fireworks and parades. The town itself has a sausage festival in August and a wine festival in October, interspersed with many saints’ days.
